WNSSH All Goalie Game!
You may have seen our ALL-GOALIE game on social media
After sharing a video of goalies playing 5 on 5 hockey, a few goalie families reached out to say this would be a fun thing to do with the kids. We bounced the idea on social media and the responses were over whelming! Another parent reached out and suggested turning this into a charity event... Less that 48 hours later, the WNYSSH all-goalie game was born!
Yes... It's back in 2025! Last year we supported Lukey's Legacy, for year 2, we are supporting a new cause that has impacted the local Hockey Community.
Melissa Wilson-Minear, is a WNYSSH OG parent and that means something to me. Melissa is courageously batting breast cancer while raising her two young sons Mason (14) and Vincent (9). Melissa was diagnosed with Stage 2 Triple Positive breast cancer in May 2024. Since then she has had a lumpectomy, undergone six rounds of chemotherapy and HER2 targeted therapy. She will be starting daily radiation in February in addition to the HER2 targeted therapy that will continue through October 2025. This treatment will be followed by hormone therapy for at least 5 years.
Her strength and determination are truly inspiring, however this journey has placed and will continue to place a significant emotional and financial burden on her family. As you can imagine, medical expenses, treatments and daily living costs add up quickly, adding extra stress at a time when Melissa needs to focus on healing and her boys.
Melissa has always been a source of light and kindness to those around her and now is our opportunity to rally around her and her family. In joining Melissa’s Fight Club, we can make a meaningful difference and let her know that she is not in this fight alone.
The game will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2025, from 2:30 - 5:30 pm! Holiday Twin Rinks has once again donated three hours of for the 2025 WNYSSH All-Goalie Game! I cannot thank them enough for that support! Check them out at HolidayRinks.com!
